Collection: ORIGINALS: MORIAH

Moriah is the name of the mountain, believed to be, where Abraham obeyed to offer his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice to God (Genesis 22).

But more than Abraham’s worship & obedience, the highlight in this mountain was God’s provision. God provided the way to worship, the opportunity to obey (for Abraham) and witness (for Isaac), and the ram for the sacrifice (a substitute to die in Isaac’s place). This is also where God assured His promises to Abraham and his descendants.

Fast forward, also in Moriah, King David purchased a lot, builds an altar to the Lord, and sacrificed burnt & fellowship offerings. God provided oxen to die so people may be spared from the plague.

After King David was Solomon, who built the house of God with a massive altar, also in this place. God provided sacrifice after sacrifice so people may be spared.

Centuries after Solomon, Jesus came. Many scholars believe that Golgotha (where Jesus was crucified) and Moriah may be the same or in the same area. Lots of resources vary in their statements.

But one thing I believe is that Mount Moriah (or land of Moriah) has been a witness to, and therefore a reminder of, many amazing things.

“So Abraham called that place ‘The LORD Will Provide’. And to this day it is said,"On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided." - Gen 22:14

It is my prayer that this painting would be a daily reminder of God’s promises & provision.

Note: Just a visual representation not an exact view of Moriah.
